Intensive Course in Statistics

The Intensive Course in Statistics takes place within the scope of the International Summer ProgramTrack A: Engineering (Applied Mathematics) and the Master course Automation and Robotics. The course addresses international students. It is not designated to students of the Department of Statistics.

Course outline

The course gives an introduction to statistical concepts that are useful for research projects in various fields of application and areas of science.

Specifically, the lecture covers the following topics:

  • basic probability random variables
  • probability and sampling distributions
  • point estimation
  • confidence intervals
  • hypothesis testing
  • simple linear regression
  • time series analysis

Except for basic mathematical calculus no prior knowledge is necessary.


5 ECTS points are credited for passing the written exam. Exam date:
